Instructional Designer

Aspect Consulting, Inc. is seeking an Instructional Designer for a Contract to Hire Opportunity located in Immaculata, PA.

Seeking an experienced and dedicated Instructional Technologist to join their Academic Technology team. This position reports to the Executive Director. The Instructional Technologist will provide expert advice to faculty and instructional staff, as well as instructional technology support staff. The candidate will work to promote increased understanding of and support for the use of instructional technologies at the university. The Instructional Technologist will administer and support campus wide course management tools, instructional technologies, and supporting academic systems. He or she will act as a technical mentor and guide to faculty in the development and maintenance of new technology based curricula and in applying technology to the instructional processes. He or she will act as a resource to lead faculty in the management of web based courses, develop and implement site based training programs, and support faculty in the production of courseware and troubleshooting problems. Other responsibilities include leading in the design and implementation of active learning spaces, developing assessment programs and participating in grant and research projects that include conducting faculty and student surveys and data analysis. He or she will also create and disseminate faculty communications, perform system administration functions, and continuously research advances in web based academic and instructional technologies. The Instructional Technologist contributes to the success of all distance learning initiatives by demonstrating professionalism, enthusiasm and superior customer service. Excellent communications skills and a strong grasp of educational technology related applications are of critical importance. Will also prepare and produce required reports and associated documentation as assigned, participate in committees, focus groups, and project teams as assigned, maintain up to date functional and technical knowledge of learning technologies and best practices, and other duties as assigned. 

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from a four-year college or university in Information Technology, Instructional Design, or Education Technology related field (Master’s preferred)
  • 5-7 years of experience with professional development and training delivery, online teaching experience, and/or academic web development experience
  • Experience with instructional design theory, best practices in online education, learning theory, instruction delivery models, and metrics.
  • Extensive technical and functional experience with learning management, course delivery, online learning systems and related synchronous and asynchronous collaboration, communication, and presentation tools such as Moodle, ANGEL, Blackboard, Sakai, Desire2Learn, GoToMeeting, Adobe Connect, Panopto, DimDim, Echo360, Lectora, Wimba, Elluminate, Presenter, or similar technologies.
  • Experience with digital media authoring, production, and delivery for graphical and audio/video multimedia content such as Final Cut, iMovie, Premiere, Final Cut Pro, Adobe PhotoShop, Adobe Premiere, After Effects, Motion, Flash, Dreamweaver, Fireworks, Adobe Captivate, Articulate, Camtasia, Jing, Snaggit, and Raptivity
  • Experience with web site design and implementation, web 2.0, social media, and social networking tools for the academic environment including: Blogs, Wikis, Google Apps, Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, etc Desired Skills/Knowledge/Experience:
  • Exceptional people skills, a strong customer focus, and experience working successfully in a dynamic and demanding higher education setting.
  • Strong process orientation and excellent task management skills.
  • Excellent project management skills and have experience with project processes and procedures, as well as documentation and reporting.

  • Functional understanding about technology platforms, web standards, accessibility, usability, mobile technology, and sustainable technologies.
  • Knowledgeable about a variety of supporting and related technological topics that are commonly associated with the Academic Technology mission.
  • Experience with graphic design, report creation, web design, and web based content management tools, methods, and processes Working knowledge of media technology, instructional design theory, and best practices in online education, learning theory, instruction delivery models, technology tools, technology infrastructure, quality control and metrics.
  • Proven ability to interact, consult and collaborate with higher education faculty, instructors, students and staff.
